BBYO On Demand
When the world shut down in March 2020, my team at BBYO quickly rallied to build a virtual home for our program. With schools closed, gatherings banned, and the lives of Jewish teens upended overnight, BBYO On Demand was born, inspired by Netflix and other streaming platforms to offer teens non-stop programming led by them, for them. We rallied behind the tagline, “Nothing's canceled, it's just online.”
The platform launched in under a week. We built a new web platform, created a scheduling backend on Airtable to manage virtual events, and immediately started working with teens to fill the calendar. As the pandemic carried on, we kept innovating, automating scheduling with Zoom, bringing in celebrities and musicians, and partnering with dozens of organizations to deliver fresh programming week after week.
The peak was a ticketed virtual convention that drew over 2,000 teens from around the world. During this dark moment, BBYO On Demand kept our community's spirits high. Today, the platform lives on as BBYO's central hub for chapter programming and organizational scheduling globally.
